Why the Spanish theory test trips up newcomers

Spain's Reglamento General de Circulación (General Traffic Regulation) has its own logic on right-of-way at unmarked junctions, roundabout rules, sign shapes and colours, and point penalties — some of it overlaps with what you already know from driving abroad, some of it doesn't. Studying only in a language you're still learning makes it harder to actually understand the reasoning behind each answer, not just memorise it.

What CarnetB Pro gives you

Do you even need a Spanish licence?

It depends on where your current licence is from. EU/EEA licences generally stay valid to drive in Spain without any exchange. Licences from countries with a reciprocal exchange agreement with Spain (canje) can usually be swapped for a Spanish one without retaking the theory or practical exam, within a set deadline after becoming a resident. If your country has no agreement, you'll typically need to go through the full process: medical/psychotechnical certificate, theory exam, and practical exam. See our full guide on the theory exam process for foreign residents for the details.
